The Oklahoma Corporation Commission is responsible for the regulation of oil and gas production and related environmental issues, as well as other items of key concern to the Oklahoma economy. For the AICCM project, the OCC staff spent hundreds of hours researching, locating, and plugging more than 2 dozen old oil and gas wells to enable construction of the facility to move forward. Prior to that, the OCC staff joined with other federal and state agencies in a massive remediation effort to restore the site and adjoining property, where a refinery once stood.
