  • Tending the Fire

In 2005, The American Indian Cultural Center and Museum asked the tribes of Oklahoma to come together to bless the grounds for the future American Indian Cultural Center and Museum. Each tribe contributed to the new fire that was lit on that special evening by symbolically adding a hickory stick in unison to the new fire. This established the Cultural Center’s role to tell the stories of Oklahoma’s 39 tribes, both historically and in a contemporary context.

  • World's Greatest Athlete

On October 28th I spent the evening attending one of the AICCM pilot public programs. This program was on Jim Thorpe: World’s Greatest Athlete and was done as a partnership between the AICCM and the Jim Thorpe Sports Museum and Oklahoma Hall of Fame and made possible through the support of the Kirkpatrick Family Fund. I have to say that this was one of the most enjoyable evenings I’ve had in my career.
