Halito! I am excited to share with you the current status of The American Indian Cultural Center and Museum. As you are aware, last legislative session, the Funding Plan for the The American Indian Center, which would have authorized approximately $40M of state bonds, subject to non-state matching funds to complete the project, was unfortunately not considered and approved by the Legislature. On Saturday, January 15, 2011, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the dedication of the Iowa Tribe’s newest flight cage at the Bah Kho-je Xla Chi (Grey Snow Eagle House), funded by the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma and a U.S. Fish and Wildlife grant. This event also commemorated the aviary's 5th anniversary.

2010 Snapshot As we approach a new year I am filled with optimism and excitement. People often ask when the museum will open? This is a complex question when one considers the magnitude of this amazing project and the development that must take place on so many different levels.
